BOOK REVIEW: Joey Kramer: Hit Hard
|
Harper One Publishing Rating: 10 Out Of 10 Reviewed by: Bam-Bam
What a great read, folks! And I say that, not as a drummer who totally respected the AEROSMITH skinsman’s attack and playing style (although I did!), but as someone who has suffered the same demons that he talks about in the book. Focusing solely on his addiction and recovery and then on the trials that came about from realizing he had Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Depression, Joey Kramer breaks down the time for us when we all thought that AEROSMITH was finally sober and doing well (which they were), but he wasn’t! To read about how he endured the problems of walking into a room full of people and all of a sudden having feelings of impending doom is all too real to someone like myself who also suffers from G.A.D., but has it totally under control now after many years of work and various doctor’s visits. I could relate so much to this book and have a place in my heart for anyone, famous or not, who deals or has dealt with this kind of problem. You literally feel as if you are falling off the edge of the earth and no one gets your plight, but the fact is, more people than not…DO!!!
With a killer intro and forward from MOTLEY CRUE’s Nikki Sixx (who has battled demons of his own), this book starts and finishes with a lot of power and a ton of octane in between the race to the finish line. I was mesmerized by Mr. Kramer’s great detail and the incredible photos that accompany the story. There’s a lot more to this book than just a “Rock-N-Roll Story Of Debauchery And Success”…it’s a story of winning against all odds and better yet; it’s 100% TRUE!!! A very easy read as it constantly keeps you turning the page to find out more, Joey’s Hit Hard is the kind of book that everyone, Rock-N-Roll fan or not, needs to read. If not just to get an idea about something they may know very little about, but have heard too many rumors and misleading information regarding, it may help them help others. A total smash and out of the park homerun as far as I’m concerned. You need to head over to (Amazon.com) to order yours now!!! This is a must for everyone’s library!!! Very, Very, Highly Recommended!!! |
