 Creating what will surely be one of the most unique projects to ever be released, musician John Taglieri plans to launch a series of books and accompanying 6-song E.P.’s that provide the story in short. Lives is a two year project that will chronicle the lives of fictional characters Cate Alston and Max Knight. The story will follow them from their introduction and meeting onto a two-year journey of life and all of the ups and downs related to it. Although the two are self-professed rejects, Max and Cate stumble into each other’s lives in order to start a journey of discovery, and honest soul searching that takes them across the country. The books and CD’s allow the story to unfold with great detail and entertaining delivery.
Although Away-Team did not receive a book for review, the CD was a marvelous combination of technical musicianship and first-class songwriting. The story literally came alive without the need for the written accompaniment. Songs like “Breathe” and “The Lives Of Splattered Flies” are filled with clues to the journey these two will be taking along the unfolding of future books and CD releases. Most impressive is Taglieri’s vocal performances and his ability to make each song an entity of its own without having to listen to the whole CD in order to feel fulfilled musically. A song at a time, or by swallowing the whole pill in one sitting, you get the experience with full-energy.
